Beef Carpaccio is a wonderful dish to serve as a sharing plate. My favourite style of eating is creating a few small plates and putting them in the middle of the table, ready to dive in and taste all the wonderful ingredients laid out in front of me. It is why Beef Carpaccio is best served in this way so that you then only need a few slices of meat per person and can then focus on getting good quality meat. And that is the crucial part to this dish, it needs good quality meat which in this case can get a little expensive. It is however, completely worth it….

Lemon and Parsley Scallops with Crispy Bacon
Finding fresh fish in Berlin is difficult but not impossible. It takes a little planning but with a bit of organisation my husband and I enjoy plenty of fresh fish. One of my favourite dinners is a fish platter where I pop to my local Galeria Kaufhof and buy a mix of fresh fish they have on offer that day. I try and go on a Friday straight after work as their fish deli still has a good selection, or I go on on a Saturday morning. I like to buy a mix of squid, prawns, cod and scallops and serve them on a bed of rocket and baked cherry tomatoes….
Smoked Mackerel Pâté
I am fully embracing the festive season! This is my favourite time of the year and I love the idea of bringing everyone together around the table with good food. It is one of the reasons why I admire America’s Thanksgiving, especially the way that they embrace all the autumnal seasonal produce to create a big feast with family and friends. Christmas is our time to do the same and it really is a special occasion. My husband and I always head back to the UK over Christmas but we still make the effort to have special dinners and nice treats at home in Berlin in the lead up to Christmas….
Tomato and Mozzarella Bruschetta
I have fallen a bit behind on the blogging the past few weeks. Wedding planning, work and lots of traveling have taken up a lot of my time but that doesn’t mean I have given up on cooking! Weekday favourites such as Pad Thai and Veggie Curry have helped me still plan to have a home cooked meal even during a busy week. Now that the weather has picked up and spring is officially here I am looking forward to a bit more al fresco dining! I can’t wait to tuck into a fresh Banh Mi on a warm evening or enjoy a bowl of Panzanella. …
Onion Bhajis with a Cucumber Raita
These spicy and crispy deep fried onions are a perfect party snack or as a simple starter. I am a big fan of Indian food and love the starters – samosas, pakoras, but it’s the onion bhajis that are my favourite! And with the party season upon us what better time to serve up these more-ish snacks to your guests!…
Onion Bhaji
One of the things I miss the most about the UK is Indian food. I cannot go out for Indian food in Germany because it is so bland in comparison. Moving to Berlin is what got me making my own curry dishes and thanks to my local asian store I have all the spices to do so.
Tonight was yesterdays leftover curry. The good thing about always making too much is that you have dinner already cooked for the next day. I also decided to make some onion bhaji’s as I already had the ingredients to make these. You can find these in any Indian restaurant and they have always been a favourtie of mine. Serve with some fresh coriander and a cucumber raita. …
