Every year I make sure to carve a pumpkin to put out on my balcony for Halloween. I love adding little bits of decorations around the apartment and to have the pumpkin lit up. For me Halloween is more than scary outfits and trick or treat. It is the first real event of the Autumn and is the perfect opportunity to embrace those cold, dark winter nights with hearty stews and soups. I always buy extra pumpkins to match a big batch of Spicy Pumpkin Soup and there is nothing more comforting than coming home to a big bowl of delicious comfort food….

Cinnamon Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
Pumpkins are not just for halloween! Every autumn I load up on butternut squash and pumpkins. They are delicious, healthy and versatile meaning that you can add them to lots of different meals. From soups to risotto, in a curry and of course using the seeds! After carving my pumpkin this weekend I roasted the pumpkin seeds but the seeds from most types of squash also work really well.

Happy Halloween! Every year we carve a pumpkin and place it out on the balcony. My favourite way to use up the leftover pumpkins after halloween is to make a big batch of pumpkin soup. It is a classic recipe for those autumn (or winter) days. We may be mourning the lovely sunny days and complaining about the cold, grey and wet weather but for us foodies the change in season can be quite exciting!
