This all time favourite dessert needs to be served with a large dose of nostalgia on the side. I mean who doesn’t love an apple crumble? It is one of those classic recipes that we all grew up on and a recipe that we all try to re-create to the same standards as our childhood memories. Even the apple crumble’s served at school dinners were actually OK… and that is really saying something. Is it because this is a dessert that is hard to get wrong, or simply that we all have a fondness for this rather stodgy and basic pudding?…

Paprika and Oregano Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
Every year I make sure to carve a pumpkin to put out on my balcony for Halloween. I love adding little bits of decorations around the apartment and to have the pumpkin lit up. For me Halloween is more than scary outfits and trick or treat. It is the first real event of the Autumn and is the perfect opportunity to embrace those cold, dark winter nights with hearty stews and soups. I always buy extra pumpkins to match a big batch of Spicy Pumpkin Soup and there is nothing more comforting than coming home to a big bowl of delicious comfort food….
Spaghetti Vongole
When it comes to food, autumn has to be my favourite time of the year! From the start of the root veg creeping into the supermarkets, juicy pumpkins lined up ready to be turned into a delicious soup or sweet yet nutty butternut squash to make the perfect warming salad , to the run up to Thanksgiving, this time of the year is about celebrating good food and making the most of those cosy evenings. While I do not actually celebrate Thanksgiving I am each year inspired by American food bloggers. It is a time to sit down with family and friends over good food and make the most of the autumn’s produce….
Pecan Pie
I follow a lot of American food blogs and I am always inspired this time of year. Thanksgiving is time for a huge feast with family and friends and autumn brings with it some of the best produce of the year. I love the way that autumn produce is brought together to create one big celebratory dinner. I don’t celebrate Thanksgiving but have been to a few dinners in the past hosted by American friends and one of my favourites has been the pecan pie. It is so delicious with a sweet, sticky filling and a flaky pastry….
Butternut Squash and Carrot Soup
I made this soup last weekend in an attempt to warm up from the cold weather! Soup is one of my go to autumn/ winter favourites and I always make sure to cook up a big batch. A big bowl of soup on a cold, wet day is the ultimate comfort food, served with large chunks of fresh bread to soak it all up with. Making your own is incredibly easy and healthier than the ready made alternatives you find in the supermarket. I often make a load over the weekend…
Bacon, Pumpkin and Feta Muffins
It is that time of year where I am once again jealous of everyone back home attending firework displays. Bonfire night has always been one of my favourite times of the year and even though we always plan to make a trip back for it we never actually do! Luckily, this doesn’t stop us from keeping up with tradition as tomorrow night we will have a few sparklers on the balcony with our first mug of glühwein of the year!…
Cinnamon Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
Pumpkins are not just for halloween! Every autumn I load up on butternut squash and pumpkins. They are delicious, healthy and versatile meaning that you can add them to lots of different meals. From soups to risotto, in a curry and of course using the seeds! After carving my pumpkin this weekend I roasted the pumpkin seeds but the seeds from most types of squash also work really well.

Spicy Pumpkin Soup
Happy Halloween! Every year we carve a pumpkin and place it out on the balcony. My favourite way to use up the leftover pumpkins after halloween is to make a big batch of pumpkin soup. It is a classic recipe for those autumn (or winter) days. We may be mourning the lovely sunny days and complaining about the cold, grey and wet weather but for us foodies the change in season can be quite exciting! Autumn brings with it some of the best produce of the year from crunchy apples, juicy pears and best of all pumpkins and squash….
