I love hummus. One of the first thing’s I noticed when going to a German supermarket for the firstphoto time was that they did not sell hummus. I lived off this as a student and it has always been a quick and easy weekend lunch with some pitta and a salad.
Yet supermarket bought hummus is full of salt and many other kinds of preservatives. Making your own hummus is very easy, a lot healthier and it tastes delicious.
I added lemon and coriander to mine. If you want to shake yours up a bit you can also add chillis, avocado or red pepper.
Ingredients:
1 400g tin chickpeas
2 tbpsn tahini paste
a handful of fresh coriander
juice of 1 lemon
4 cloves garlic (roughly chopped)
- Drain the chickpeas from the tin
- Add everything to a blender and blend until the mixture is smooth.
